When people like to chalk up a rising standard of living as a reason for capitalism it’s like yeah I’m sure scientists and engineers would just cease to exist under any other economic system
It’s like they never consider what would happen if the purpose of research and innovation wasn’t for monetary gain, it was for public benefit.
