Intense photos put Mexico’s growing crisis into vivid perspective

Tens of thousands of demonstrators flooded the streets of Mexico City on Thursday in one of the largest shows to date of public indignation over government corruption and the disappearance of 43 college students from the southern city of Iguala.

Demonstrators marched towards President Enrique Peña Nieto’s National Palace to protest his handling of the probable massacre. Hundreds of police in riot gear blocked access to the palace, where thousands of protesters gathered to demand justice for the students who disappeared on Sept. 26.

“I am here because I have children who are students and one day they could be No. 44”

The 12 most maddening parts of Darren Wilson’s testimony

The whole thing, Officer Darren Wilson said, took less than a minute.

In documents released late Monday night after a Missouri grand jury decided not to indict him for the killing of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown, Wilson gives a detailed, firsthand account of what he says happened on that hot summer afternoon in Ferguson. The testimony was given Sept. 16, a little more than five weeks after Wilson encountered Brown walking with his friend Dorian Johnson down the middle of a suburban street.

A man has died during the Ferguson riots just yards from where Michael Brown was shot dead.

Residents on Canfield Drive said that DeAndre Joshua, 20, was shot whilst in his car though police at the scene refused to confirm any details. DeAndre’s grandmother Renita Towns said that ‘somebody killed him’ during the carnage.

DeAndre Joshua graduated from high school and worked at Walmart, he said. As police towed Joshua’s car, his grandmother Renita Towns said she had little hope that police would investigate and learn the cause of her grandson’s death. She said he wasn’t into drugs, she said. “Police don’t care — he’s black,” Towns said.
