If I told you about her, what would I say? That they lived happily ever after? I believe they did. That they were in love? That they remained in love? I’m sure that’s true. But when I think of her – of Elisa – the only thing that comes to mind is a poem, whispered by someone in love, hundreds of years ago: “Unable to perceive the shape of You, I find You all around me. “Lucille (Jessica Chastain) is actually part of the house. They’re connected. The house is history, it’s the past, it’s her childhood, it’s everything. And she cannot separate that.
Her wardrobe has pieces of architecture of the house embroidered in lace,” Del Toro said. “We very deliberately made her the same color as the walls. The walls are the same color as her eyes. We wanted to make them have the color of the house.”
