“Shot in the head last night by police”
tonytonytony70

Keep in mind that the police were vehemently stating that it was not them who shot her and it was a drive by of a group of Black guys. They were probably praying that this girl died so no one would find out the truth. Well guess what? We have another testimony against the Ferguson police in court for blatantly lying like how they are doing now with not telling the truth about Michael Brown.

Y’all I was friends with Mya at HU, she is a peaceful person and would never do anything to deserve a bullet to the head. She’s slowly recovering, please keep her in your thoughts and prayers

idk why police officers being monitored to make sure they’re performing their duties ethically and within legal parameters is such a controversial topic because if I recall they’re a fan of using the whole “if you’ve got nothing to hide you’ve got nothing to fear” shtick to justify harassing civilians it’s almost like they’re full of bullshit

Why are police calling the people of Ferguson animals and yelling at them to “bring it”? Because those officers in their riot gear, with their tear gas and dogs, want a justification for slaughter. But inexplicably…we turn our attention to the rioters, the people with less power, but justifiable anger, and say, “You are the problem.” No. A cop killing an unarmed teenager who had his hands in the air is the problem. Anger is a perfectly reasonable response. So is rage.

…How dare people preach and condescend to these people and tell them not to loot, not to riot? Yes, those are destructive forms of anger, but frankly I would rather these people take their anger out on property and products rather than on other people.

No, I don’t support looting. But I question a society that always sees the product of the provocation and never the provocation itself. I question a society that values property over black life. But I know that our particular system of law was conceived on the founding premise that black lives are white property…

[…]

Nothing makes white people more uncomfortable than black anger. But nothing is more threatening to black people on a systemic level than white anger. It won’t show up in mass killings. It will show up in overpolicing, mass incarceration, the gutting of the social safety net, and the occasional dead black kid. Of late, though, these killings have been far more than occasional. We should sit up and pay attention to where this trail of black bodies leads us….

Even as Black girls and Black women from young to old are erased from history, as both supporters of justice for Black people and as ones who also experience State violence, Black girls and Black women, young to old, regularly show up. Always have. No matter what lie anyone tells you whether on Twitter or in textbooks.

a cop just threatened to shoot the livestream operator in the face please continue to boost the stream links all over so that these journalists life and death efforts reach as many people as possible

The confrontation is at 01:04:10. The officer’s shouting a lot, and I can’t make out all of it, but I hear, “turn that shit off! turn it off,” and, “you turn that off, or you’re getting shot with this.

That officer then leaves when another officer (later identified as Captain Todd) steps forward to take over the situation. Todd acknowledges what happened (the cameraman repeats what was said and Todd says “I heard him” at 01:04:50).

The cameraman asks Todd repeatedly for the name of the officer who threatened him, but Todd won’t give him the name. Instead he identifies himself as Captain Todd. (The cameraman also hands his card to another man in a red shirt who doesn’t appear to be dressed as an officer, but who promises that he’ll report it to Captain Johnson.)

Note: The page seems to have refreshed itself or something, and now I can’t rewind to this part of the footage anymore. Anyone know how to access the older live stuff? I don’t see a separate video for it.

ETA: The archived footage is here.
