There is just something about them — it doesn’t seem to
matter what universe — but there is something about them that makes us want
them to be together. Shipping Steve and Tony gives us a whole range of interactions
and character dynamics to draw from.
We love them when they are awkward and uncertain around each other.
How even when they don’t know each other, there is obvious chemistry between
them.
We love the way they snark and tease each other…
…their flirting…
…and their playful mocking.
We love how intense they get talking to each other…
…and how the tension ratchets up when they’re being antagonistic.
We love the way they take turns rescuing each other…
…and giving rides out of trouble.
We love how they lend a hand, both in and out of costume…
…that they support each other during missions and at home…
…and that when the going gets tough, they’re still there, helping.
We love them because they put feelings aside and fight for what they
believe is right, even when it does get personal…
…but they defend each other, too….

There are so many different ways that Steve and Tony’s lives
intertwine across the different Marvel universes (so many, in fact, that we had to split this post into two parts!). It means that the
possibilities of what they mean to each other are virtually endless! We get to
see such an assortment of emotions and scenarios, and all of them build on each
other to make Steve and Tony’s relationship more meaningful.
We get relief at knowing the other is alive.
We get respect and teamwork…
…domestic bliss…
…and family arguments.

Like every time he could say “Iron Man” or “Stark” or “Tony” when he’s talking to other people it’s “My Husband” and the team is so happy for them but so Done™
