Honestly the whole of Iron Man/Captain America: Casualties of War is one continuous and angsty Steve/Tony moment. If you want to know what was going on under the surface with these two when Civil War was happening – this is the issue to pick up. Talking, trying to get the other to change sides, falshbacks to happier times – here you get it all.

10 years after The Confession gave us theĀ āIt wasnāt worth itā speech hit the shelves, we give you theĀ āWhat a wasteā speech. After Civil War II Tony is in a coma and this time itās Steve who gets to confess some things. At the time he has been cosmic-cubed to believe he has secretly always been Hydra and has been manipulating the conflict for his own purposes.Ā
The Steve we get to see is single-minded when it comes to his vision, but seems conflicted when it comes to Tony, mocking him and what he stood for while at the same time sounding like he wanted to impress him.
Talking about his non-Hydra-self in the third person, he makes the possible most important confession:Ā āHe loved you. He loved you. And he admired you. Even when you fought.ā
Tony(groggy): Steveā¦?Ā
Steve: Shh, go back to sleep, Tony.Ā
Supposedly super quick color sketch to make watercoloring easier. Neither quick, nor finished, but itās still 6/16 in some parts of the world. Happy 616 day!Ā
Also, how to hair? I have no idea.
So, I wanted to draw something fluffy. But then it came to the point of deciding on their clothes. And since Civil War II was the first Marvel comic Iāve ever read (because David Marquez?!), I thought why not. Harmless, right? Wellā¦ I did a plot twist on myself?
I should have drawn them naked instead. But I do love angst, tooā¦ š¤ĀIām obviously fairly new to Marvel comics and the timeline. Everything I know is from laireshiās work. Seriously. Please read everything theyāve written (Iām not sure if thereās any 616 Tony fan who actually hasnātā¦) Theyāre absolute masterpieces; I never knew you could fall so much in love with a fictional character, but laireshiās Tony Stark is worship material. Iām still taking my sweet time. ~60% to go, maybe? Hopefully more? But probably less.Ā
Pardon me, itās 5 am and I tend to ramble when Iām tired. Iād go on with the hymn of praise for laireshi. Because I just canāt be thankful enough for all their work. For sharing their love for Tony and Iāve discovered a whole new world with the comics.

Tony tells him to make a wish, and Steve wants to say,
